Our mission is to provide Virginia adoption professionals—both public and private agencies and organizations—with useful information that promotes and supports the use of evidence- based practices. Our central focus is on the adoption of children from foster care.

Designed to assist the busy adoption professionals in locating the most relevant, usable information, BestAdoptVA.org provides basic information on key adoption practice issues with links to the most credible sources for more in- depth information.

The Key Issues sub-section focuses on Virginia’s efforts to assist foster children achieve permanency through adoption.  Included is information on Virginia’s performance, goals, strategies to achieve goals, and related policy and practice issues.  Key issues include:
